MJR Team meeting in France

The MJR team travels to France for the meeting
For our 15th anniversary (which was actually in 2024: read the story here) a special highlight in terms of team meetings was also to take place. We therefore decided to round off the celebrations with a “big” meeting in France. Our destination this time was Alsace. After a longer planning phase, the time had come on June 15th and we all met at the Hotel Les Rives in Guebwiller, which is located not far from Colmar in the Vosges mountains. Our employee Yves, who lives in the region, was our personal tour guide. Many thanks again at this point.

Sunday

Once all the team members and their families had arrived safely, we went to the “Taverne du Vigneron” in the village for dinner together. Traditional Alsatian dishes such as tarte flambée and even snails were served there. No other program was planned for the first evening apart from dinner.

Monday

On the first morning after breakfast, our first presentations took place in the hotel meeting room. Our CEO Michael Raber kicked things off again with news on the current situation and some updates on customers and projects. Families were able to take some time out by the lake or simply enjoy the view from their room balcony.
The afternoon program was an excursion to Colmar. The small town captivates with its pretty old town with its small streams and rivers. Those who wanted to could take part in the boat tour in the “Little Venice” district.
Some of the group continued on to Riquewihr on the Alsace Wine Route, which is famous for its half-timbered houses and wine shops. Another group made their way to the Markstein region in the Vosges mountains. Markstein is a small French winter sports resort from where you have a beautiful view of the Vosges landscape.

Tuesday

The next day after breakfast, we started with the first presentation by Julia. She gave us an overview of current marketing activities and an outlook for the current year 2025. In his presentation, our system administrator Martin provided useful information on cybersecurity and the current phishing traps. Developer Yusef then gave the team an overview of the developments surrounding our first project with Infor AI and further information on artificial intelligence.

In the afternoon, the team was split into two groups: One group started in the direction of Haute Koenigsbourg and the other group set off for the Ecomusée d’Alsace (Open-air museum of Alsace). The Haute Koenigsbourg is a medieval castle in Orschwiller. Its history dates back to 1147 and is still largely intact today, as it has been restored and renovated several times. Nine hundred years of history have passed from the construction of the first castle in 1147 to its current appearance.

The Ecomusée d’Alsace in Ungersheim is the largest open-air museum in France and is set up like an Alsatian village from the early 20th century. Various farms, houses and trades from the last century can be explored there. There are also animals such as goats, donkeys and chickens as well as a large tractor exhibition.

After everyone had returned from their excursions, they met at the Pizzeria Du Lac, right next to the hotel. The eventful days slowly came to an end over dinner together.

After breakfast together, the journey home began on Wednesday morning. Many thanks to the management for making this possible and to everyone who contributed to the success of the trip. We are already looking forward to the 20th anniversary!
