Skurka Success Story

First contact with Skurka and MJR was end of 2022 at the inPOWER event in Milwaukee. There was a first get to know and representing the MJR knowledge to IT director Wil Ramos. Wil already saw potential in MJR – not only in our MJR solution Uploadia.

Working for Skurka – Security topics

Working with an aerospace manufacturer is different from supporting a typical business office. In aerospace and defense, IT systems often support engineering, production, quality, supply chain, and customer program data. For companies like Skurka, that means cybersecurity is not only about protecting computers. It is about protecting aircraft programs, technical data, customer trust, and the defense supply chain.

Skurka Aerospace publicly describes its work across commercial transport aircraft, regional jets, business jets, helicopters, military aircraft, ground vehicles, radar systems, and missile-related applications. The company also identifies itself as ISO9001, AS9100, and CMMC Level 2 certified.

For an IT consultant, that environment requires awareness of several security and compliance frameworks. In practical IT terms, this means strong access control, multifactor authentication, asset management, logging, vulnerability management, incident response, secure backups, and documented policies are not optional best practices. From an IT perspective, export control awareness affects file sharing, cloud storage, remote access, user permissions, foreign national access, vendor access, email controls, and where data is stored or backed up. Added to these requirements also limiting system access, protecting public-facing systems, controlling removable media, using secure authentication, and monitoring information systems, is strongly encouraged.

Aerospace manufacturers operate in a world where quality, security, and trust are closely connected. For IT consultants, customers like Skurka Aerospace are a reminder that cybersecurity is part of the production environment, the customer relationship, and the broader aerospace supply chain.

Skurka x MJR timeline

March 2025: Skurka @ MJR office

As we started our first conversation in beginning of 2025 we aimed to have an On-Site Workshop. Introducing new applications like Infor OS and Infor IDM (Document Management Solution). Once we have defined our goals to archive during the Workshop we fixed the dates and welcomed Wil and Harold in our office in Knittlingen.
We started with Introductions on how Infor OS is working and how to manage the whole framework (consists of multiple applications) for administrators. This was including the steps on Certificate Rollovers & Application Health checks and automated alerts in error situations.

Furthermore, we had dived into the functionalities of Infor ION, the middleware for Integrations within the company. Together we analysed the type of integrations that can be made in ION and the possibilities for Skurka.

April 2026: Visit at Skurka Headquarter

Since the last visit in our MJR Office we continued to work on integration topics and new application implementations such as InterForm. The list of new ideas was growing so we decided to have a visit on site at Skurka Aerospace. And we received a very warm welcome from the Skurka team in Camarillo.
The week started with a kickoff meeting to align priorities, distribute tasks across the five on-site days, and define the key topics for our collaboration. Throughout the week, we met with different departments to better understand the processes, daily challenges, and ways of working. These discussions were an important part of the visit because they allowed us to connect the technical implementation directly with the business requirements of the people using the systems every day.

The collaboration was not limited to meeting rooms and project plans. Having lunch together and spending time after work at great local places helped build a strong working relationship and made the week both productive and enjoyable. In the Los Angeles area, we had the chance to experience a few highlights of Southern California, including Griffith Observatory and Santa Monica.

One technical highlight was the creation of a new integration to the FactorySense API. FactorySense focuses on RFID-based tracking and real-time visibility for production, asset tracking, work in progress, and inventory processes. With this new integration, production information can be shared for RFID batch printing, supporting more transparent and efficient production workflows.

Another important milestone was the on-site implementation of DocBits by FellowPRO. DocBits is an AI-driven intelligent document processing solution that recognizes, extracts, and processes data from documents such as invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes, and order confirmations.

A major part of our work at Skurka Aerospace also focused on InterForm. We began by creating different invoice formats for the company, including several special formats and, as one of the main topics, the ProForma invoice. After a short testing phase, the go-live was successfully completed, and we were able to continue with additional reports such as acknowledgements, packing lists, and pick lists.

One of the more challenging parts was going beyond standard document formats and creating internal formats, including certificates. This is where InterForm showed its real value. The application is not only used to create PDF documents; a major part of the process is also moving the generated PDFs directly into Infor Document Management, or IDM. With InterForm, business processes can be designed in a flexible and efficient way, which is exactly why Skurka Aerospace is using the solution.
By the end of the week, we had defined several new topics to continue working on once our team returned to Germany. These will include future improvements such as email tracking and other process enhancements that will be built together with Skurka Aerospace.

We closed the visit with a final status meeting in our project group: summarize results of the week, align the next steps, and finishthe trip with a clear direction for the continued collaboration. The on-site work showed up once again how valuable it is to combine technical implementation with direct customer interaction, process understanding, and strong teamwork.

Mid 2026: Implementing Uploadia

We supported Skurka Aerospace with the introduction of Uploadia in beginning 2026. MJR provided the installer and the required installation documentation. The Skurka team was very well by completing the installation independently, reflecting the straightforward setup process of the application. The goal of using Uploadia was to automate manual processes and make recurring processes more efficient.

The setup was done in two short and interactive training sessions. Rather than following a purely theoretical agenda, the sessions focused on the team’s questions and practical examples from their daily work. Together, we reviewed Uploadia’s core functions and discussed how the application can support efficient data and master-data maintenance in Infor XA. This hands-on approach gave the users a solid foundation for working with Uploadia independently after a real low training time.
